Stephen D. Coppolo joined Murphy & Riley, P.C. as an Associate in 2013. Steve has devoted his practice to civil litigation and has significant experience in the state and federal courts of Massachusetts and New Hampshire. His practice focuses primarily on professional liability defense (physicians, attorneys, and accountants), employment law, personal injury defense, and complex commercial litigation. Steve has successfully represented a wide variety of businesses and individuals, and his work frequently results in favorable judgments prior to trial or highly advantageous settlements for his clients. Above all, Steve most enjoys working with his clients, and helping them succeed against whatever challenge has brought them before the civil justice system.

 

Steve earned his Juris Doctor from the College of William and Mary, where he served as the Senior Articles Editor for the William and Mary Law Review. He published scholarship in the Review concerning contractual relations between physicians and health insurers, which has been cited multiple times by litigants before the California Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. Steve is also a frequent writer and speaker on litigation strategy, employment law, and other topics.

Prior to law school, Steve worked for three years on Capitol Hill as a legislative aide and speechwriter for a United States Senator, where he specialized in health care policy, Medicare, and Social Security. Steve earned a B.A. in English (summa cum laude, High Honors, Phi Beta Kappa) from Colgate University.
