Shahan J. Kapitanyan

Shahan joined Murphy & Riley, P.C. in 2017 after spending 11 years specializing in insurance fraud cases with an emphasis on medical provider fraud in both state and federal court.   Shahan brings with him a wealth of litigation and coverage experience representing both insurance companies and their insureds.  Shahan has tried numerous cases to verdict and has successfully argued before the Appellate Division of the District Court on several occasions. 

Shahan earned his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School, where he graduated cum laude and was a member of the Suffolk University Law Review.  While on law review, Shahan published a note entitled “Federal Tort Claims Act Notice Requirement:  Minimal Notice Sufficient to Pass Legal Muster and Preserve the Right to File a Subsequent Lawsuit in Federal Court.”  Shahan also participated in the Voluntary Prosecutors program and was awarded the honor of most distinguished brief during his first year.
